Worksman Personal Activity Vehicle PAV3-STR-3CB - STRETCH Version
I'm a 28 yr old who can't ride bikes because of a chronic illness (balancing can be dangerous for me). So, I bought a PAV3 and it has been AWESOME!
I wanted a trike that was sturdy but didn't look dorky, ha. This was this perfect one! Rode it 4 miles today and went fishing, then rode back. I feel like I'm getting a piece of myself back.
Shipping took 5 months, which was frustrating. And, they did I wasn't notified when it was shipped. Luckily I was home when the semi-truck showed up at my house. But, very happy with the product. Super cool.
It arrived in a HUGE crate mostly assembled. Very well protected in shipping. The Trike arrived about 7 weeks after I ordered it. I haven't gotten to ride it yet because whoever packed the trike didn't put all of the assembly parts in it, so I can't put the seat on. Kind of a a bummer for a $1500 purchase. I called customer service and they promised me the parts would be shipped out to me today.
The quality of the trike looks good, finish is good, it's heavy duty for sure and looks well manufactured. Five stars for the quality and finish, minus one because it was shipped without all of the parts required for assembly (the seat is kinda important).
I was apprehensive buying a bike sight unseen. Now that I have it I have zero regrets. I love my bike and can't imagine being on anything as comfortable to ride.
I'm 350 lbs and 6'3" This bike fits me perfectly and will get a lot of use. I will recommend spending the extra and getting the 3 speed. Hills are much easier with the ability to shift.
Very pleased with my purchase.
Overall the PAV3 is a good trike. The issues I had are minor. I had to remove the chain guard because the the PAV's chain was scraping against it, I had to use zip ties to attach the rear cargo basket because the holes drilled into the frame weren't spaced correctly to be able to use the mounting hardware. A better mounting system for the seat would also be good because I had to use a wrench and tighten it so much that one of the metal plates bent just to keep it from moving.
5 years ago I reached that Ah, Ha, Moment. All of us who are morbidly obese will have to reach that one moment, where if you don't get a handle on your life your are going to die, usually with in a year, if you don't stop and fix the issue. I did and I'm still doing it on a Worksman PAV 3 STR trike. I have put more than 1500 miles on mine, and to this date 05-29-16 lost 250 pounds I weighed more than 640 pounds when I started my life style change. I has not been easy. It has been painful, It has been miserable, BUT thanks to my positive attitude and my Worksman trike I'm getting there. ..Thank you Worksman for building a solid trike. I cant say enough good about this trike. But you have to get out and ride it. I ride off road and on long stretches 8 or more miles. Didnt happen over night.
I am a large person and thought I could never ride a bike at 340 lbs, but this stretched trike is the way to go! I called and spoke with someone at Worksman, they told me the bike and accessories I needed and I could not be happier! Don't hesitate, just get it and get going!!?
I am a 340 man, and I actually have lost 40 pounds in the last few months, and now I wanted a bicycle, but still was concerned about balance. I called and talked to a very nice man at Worksman and he recommended the PAV3 stretch model to me with pedal extenders. I ordered it, it came in 5 weeks later and wow! I could not be happier with my purchase. Love the bike, easy to ride and great, fun, exercise!! thank you Worksman!!
I only gave 4 out 5 stars because of the unclear or unfamiliar accessory options being in only a written form description. I would have included a different set or additional accessories had I had a pictorial view, preferably a realistic picture views of parts in their functional form attached to the PAV3 as a visual description of the parts. The attachment of the basket to the tricycle was not mentioned in the instruction sheet, but was able to figure something out. Other than these administrative comments, it is a pleasant ride to have, however I wish they would have provide a hand braking for the dummy rear left wheel. The tricycle will tend to pull to one side with only the coaster brake when trying to slow down travelling down a relatively inclined hill. It's design more so for a casual cruising travel, so don't expect to compete racing with a two wheel cycle.
Bottom line is that I am happy with this purchase once I finish tweaking it to my satisfaction with a personal touch.
I haven't rode a bike in years, in fact, decades. I didn't have the time or patience to redevelop my balance skills since I wanted to use it to lose weight and get back to a healthy lifestyle.
The frame is strong and beautifully finished. The bike is sturdy over bumps and rides beautifully. I've been advocating for all my friends who want a sturdy trike that doesn't take up a great deal of room to buy one as well.
Pros: Surefooted, strong, doesn't flex or strain under the weight.
Cons: Could use more than a 3 speed. But absolutely get the three speed, you'll need it if you want to climb any kind of hills
We love the PAV 3 bike for our special needs son. We had 2 minor issues. We needed an Allen wrench that was not included in the shipment, a small and inexpensive inconvenience for us that we felt should have come with the shipment. The hand brake is located in an inconvenient spot, not easily accessible on either the right or left hand. Besides those two issues we are very satisfied with our purchase and Worksman bikes.
