Worksman Design Your Own Dutchie Lite MEN's Bike
I have proudly owned an electric blue Dutchie Lite for several years now. The primary use is work commuting year round in almost all weather (it does my prior postal experience proud- rain or sleet or dark of night). If I could, I would get a 48 tooth front sprocket because these wheels want to fly! I need not pedal continuously because the wheels will keep rolling. The front drum brake is great on the slick stuff and will not skid.
The Dutchie lite is a great bike for cruising about town. The best thing about the bike is that you can order it just the way you want it, you don't have to take what they have available. The problem with that is that the price goes up to much.
The only bad thing about the bike is, there is not much of an owners manual. Since the bike is sold online and there is not much dealer availability, it would be nice to have more detail on how to make adjustments on the bike. This could easily be d put online.
I live on Hilton Head and wanted a single gear bike that could handle the salt air. I was tired of having the derailleur worked on every year on my old bike. I love the simplicity of this bike. It's surprisingly light. Very easy to put together.
I've been riding around NYC and Long Island for the last few years on my Dutchie. With baskets on it is a perfect bike for errands and groceries. On the weekends though, I ride it with some friends from Queens NY to Old Westbury Long Island and back-a 25-35 mile ride. I have no trouble staying with my friends' fancy road bikes. We all start and finish together. My record on the Dutchie is a 51 mile three borough ride so far. The bike is very tough and very easy to ride in pretty much all conditions. No complaints here.
