In order to become well versed on bicycles, it is important to learn the different parts of a cargo bike and what they are used for. Below is a short list of popular bike parts.

Bar ends: Bar ends are the extensions that are affixed to the ends of flat handle bars. This part offers an alternative area to rest your hand while riding a bike.

Braze-on: A braze-on is a threaded socket that sometimes is present on the bike frame. This piece allows for the rider to attach different accessories to the frame of the bike, such as a water bottle holder or a fender.

Derailer: Derailers are devices that are bolted to the frame of a cargo bike and are responsible for moving the chain from one gear to the other as you shift.  There is a front derailer and a rear derailer, which respectively control the gears on the front and back of a cargo bike.

Frame: The frame is the main, metallic part of the bicycle and commonly made out of steel, aluminum, titanium, or carbon fiber.
